SHRI PRAMOD MAHAJANSon of Shri Venkatesh Devidas Mahajan and Shrimati Prabhavati Venkatesh Mahajan, born October 30,1949
(Mehboobnagar - Andhra Pradesh), a master strategist, fundraiser, election manager, the spirit and
vibrancy of young India has died on May 3, 2006 after he was shot by his youngest brother 12 days ago.
With excellent qualifications with B.Sc (Physics), M.A. in Political science, B.A. in Journalism,
Shri Pramod Mahajan started his career as Social Worker and later as President of All India BJYM in 1986.
He served as the Chairman, Committee on Transport and Tourism from 1994-1996, General Secretary of B.J.P.State
unit of Maharashtra from 1978-83, All India B.J.P. and a Member, Lok Sabha from 1996-97, as Defence Minister
in 1996 and as Political Advisor to the Prime Minister of India in 1998. He was elected to the
Rajya Sabha in July,1986, re-elected in July,1992 and again in July,1998.
He got married in the year 1972, and has one son and a daughter. BJP has plunged into an unforeseen crisis with
the death of a 56-year-old politician, a member of the BJP's Next generation and one who many thought had the

He was given a state funeral at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, Mumbai on May 4, 2006.
